Brad Hooper is the field superintendent for Covanta Field Services Overlay with responsibility for the application of high nickel alloys being applied in Covanta Energy waste to energy facilities. Brad has travelled around the world and welded exotic alloys in more than a dozen countries, with applications ranging from waste to energy, oil refinery, chemical, pulp and paper, steel mill, cement kilns and others.

The Application of High Nickel Alloys
to the Bainbridge
Waste-to-Energy Facility

Lancaster County uses a waste-to-energy facility (commonly referred to as an incinerator) to help dramatically reduce the amount of waste that is sent to the county landfill. This facility is run by Covanta, and is currently being refurbished. Brad Hooper is heading the team that is refreshing the incinerator. The team mainly specializes in the application of 625 Inconel, but has recently branched out into the growing market of thermal spray coatings, where some areas are having very promising results.
